World Mental Health Day

THE WHAT: October 10th is World Mental Health Day! An international day for global mental health education, awareness, and advocacy against social stigma.

This year's theme is: Make Mental Health & Well-Being for All a Global Priority

📄 Review the World Health Organization's policy brief to learn about how you can protect and promote mental health in the workplace (🌟: Remember to take those days off!).

THE SO WHAT:

🗣️ Research has found that members of racial/ethnic minority groups are less likely than caucasians to access mental health services. There are a plethora of reasons for this: cultural stigmas, lack of access to care, socioeconomic disparities, among others. Luckily, over the years Mental Health care has become more accessible and widely accepted across our communities.

If you are looking for a mental health professional, it may be helpful to find someone that understands your cultural nuances and challenges.
